KATHMANDU, June 5: The Nepali Army has appointed Brigadier General Raja Ram Basnet as its new spokesperson. He officially assumed the responsibility during a program organized today at the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army.
Former Spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC is set to take charge as the acting head of the Nepali Army’s Eastern Division starting this Sunday. His name has already been recommended for the post, and he is likely to be promoted to Lieutenant General soon. The current division chief, Pawan Raj Ghimire, is being transferred to the Army Headquarters.

Before his appointment as spokesperson, Brigadier General Basnet served as the Director of the Directorate of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation within the Nepali Army.
The spokesperson will carry out responsibilities in close proximity to the Chief of the Nepali Army.
