BIZ BRIEFS: Diageo Bar Academy opens in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Diageo Bar Academy has opened in Nepal with the objective of providing bartenders and bar staff the opportunity to develop their professional capabilities and teaching them the ways to create outstanding experiences for their customers. The training has been opened in association with Global Trading Concern -- the distribution partner of Diageo Bar Academy in Nepal.



"By investing in training for bartenders, we hope to elevate the standard of Nepal´s top bars to that seen in other parts of Asia, Europe and America, where the artistry, craftsmanship and theatre of bartending is widely admired and emulated throughout the world," said the statement. Eddie Harris, general manager of Diageo Emerging South-East Asia, said: "We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Academy in Nepal, which is a key component of the company´s continued commitment to Nepal´s hospitality industry."



Whirlpool brand shop opens in Birgunj

KATHMANDU: Whirlpool has opened its exclusive brand shop in Birgunj along with its local partner Navin Distributors. According to a press statement issued on Sunday, the newly opened store is the 5th brand shop for Whirlpool in the country. As a part of its marketing strategy, Whirlpool is now focusing on opening exclusive brand shops all around the country. "These brand shops will have the latest product from the company´s portfolio, like icemagic and ichill refrigerators," said the statement.



Nepal Int´l Trade Fair draws 40k visitors

KATHMANDU : Around 40,000 people visited the 2nd Nepal International Trade Fair on the third day. The fair features 400 stalls of products and services from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. Nepal has stalls dealing on tourism, information technology and business process outsourcing, hydropower, education, handicraft, herbs and agro products, and pharmaceutical products, among others. Likewise, the international pavilion has stalls of leather goods, readymade garments, new technology and equipment, handicrafts, household goods, gift items, furniture and fashion wears, among others. The organizers are expecting total footfall of 200,000 and transactions worth Rs 150 million during the five-day event which concludes on Tuesday.
