Binita wins 200 m gold

KATHMANDU, June 3: Binita Thapa of Bijeshwori won the gold in the women´s 200 m race Wednesday at the school-level, valley-wide President´s Cup Running Shield held at the Dasharath Stadium.



Mamata Thapa of New Diamond and Nisha Thapa of Prithivi bagged the silver and the bronze. In the same category of the men´s race, Pemba Tamang and Parbat Shrestha of Deep Jyoti, and Baburam Thapa Magar of Tilingatar secured the top three spots.



In the men´s 5000 m, Buddha Kumar Ghising of Gyanodaya earned the gold, Rabin Gurung of Kamana came second and Bharat Gurung of Deep Jyoti finished third.

In the women´s high jump, Gyani Chunara of Deepjyoti, Sunita Gurung of Guheshwori and Sita Gyawali of Deep Jyoti secured the top three places. In the men´s high jump, Pushkar Khadka of Prithivi won the gold, Jeewan Bala of Indradhanus bagged the silver and Laxman Ale Magar of New Horizon earned the bronze.



In the women´s 4X100 m relay, Bijeshwori, New Diamond and Deep Jyoti grabbed the top three positions.



The Running Shield is organized by the Kathmandu District Sports Development Committee.
