KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Bhumi Raj Rai of Nepal Police Club and Pushpa Bhandari of Armed Police Force on Saturday claimed the titles of the marathon of the 41st National Athletics men's and women's sections respectively held in Biratnagar.

The event was held under the Seventh National Games scheduled to be held in the Eastern Region from November 27 to December 4.
Bhumi, champion of the 40th Athletics tournament, completed the distance in 2 hours 31 minutes and 03 seconds to claim the title, while Khim Bahadur Khatri of APF completed the distance in 2 hours 28 minutes and 24 seconds to be second and Dan Bahadur Dhami of APF became third as he completed the distance in 2 hours 40 minutes and 47 seconds.In women's section, Pushpa won the marathon with the timing of 3 hours 32 minutes and 51 seconds. Sonujaya Rai of APF took 3 hours 33 minutes and 13 seconds to become second and Bishnu Maya Budha of Mid-western Region came third as she completed the distance in 3 hours 53 minutes and 53 seconds.
Altogether 20 participants, 13 men and seven women, took part in the marathon that kicked off from Kanchanbari of Biratanagar and ended at the same venue with Duhabi, Khanar and Itahari were also part of the route.
