A bio-gas plant is being installed in collaboration with the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre. A feasibility study has already been carried out in ward nos-3, 8, 9 and 18 of the municipality, according to Environment Officer at the Regional Urban Development Project Padma Raj Joshi.

The AEPC will now work on a detail project report to move ahead with the project. Management of the solid waste produced by the population of the municipality is expected to be ensured along with the production of energy as well. The municipality currently produces five tons of solid waste every day, of which 40 per cent is bio-degradable. RSS
