At least 11 killed, 10 missing as flood and landslide wreak havoc across the country

KATHMANDU, Sept 28:  Floods and landslides triggered by the incessant rainfall for the past two days have claimed at least 11 lives so far. At least 10 others are missing in various parts of the country.

KATHMANDU, Sept 28:  Floods and landslides triggered by the incessant rainfall for the past two days have claimed at least 11 lives so far. At least 10 others are missing in various parts of the country. 


Rescue teams have successfully saved 764 individuals from flood-affected areas, according to nationwide updates released by the Home Ministry.


In response to the emergency situation, the Armed Police Force (APF) has mobilized 1,947 personnel to assist in search, rescue, and relief operations. As rescue efforts continue, authorities are working to locate the missing and provide aid to the displaced. 


According to Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa of the Armed Police, two people were killed in various parts of Panchthar district.


In Dhankuta district, two people are missing while two others were killed as a result of the landslides triggered by the heavy rainfall.

Similarly, one person was killed in Jhapa. DSP Thapa said security personnel successfully rescued 325 individuals affected by the flood.


In Morang district, 23 security personnel have successfully rescued 176 individuals.


In Dhading, one person was killed while another person is missing after being swept away by the river. Police said two persons were successfully rescued. 


Similarly, one person was killed and one other is missing in Kathmandu due to the flood. Security personnel have successfully rescued 224 individuals.


Similarly, landslides triggered by the heavy rainfall have resulted in one death in Lalitpur. Police said six persons are missing in various parts of the district. 


A team of the Armed Police Force, equipped with motorboats, has been deployed across all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.


Meanwhile, a meeting of the Central Security Committee is currently underway at the Home Ministry to coordinate search and rescue efforts.
