ANNFSU to padlock PU colleges over fee hike

KATHMANDU, Sept. 5: The All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU) close to the CPN (UML) has said that it is going to padlock all the engineering campuses under the Purbanchanchal University (PU) for an indefinite period from September 7 in protest against the hike in tuition fees.



The Union has accused the PU-affiliated engineering campuses of arbitrarily hiking the tuition fees.[break]



At a press meet here on Monday, ANNFSU President Madhav Dhungel said the recent rise in tuition fees by the PU engineering campuses is ´illegal´. According to Dhungel, the PU has increased the tuition fees by Rs. 5,000 to 100,000 from the existing fees rate.



The PU has also been accused of allowing fake students in its entrance exams and recruiting the members of the political parties´ sister wings as invigilators in the exams.
