In a memorandum that was handed over to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal by a delegation of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNNCI) amid a function on Tuesday, Nepal´s apex business community has also asked the government to take concrete steps to lower impacts of terrible 12-hours load shedding and address rising lending rate of the financial institutions. The renewed request has come a month after a delegation of FNCCI met with the prime minister and requested him to pay serious attention on the issues raised by the business community.
According to a press statement issued by the FNCC after a meeting with PM, the business delegation also demanded with the government to enforce a legal restriction on declaring industrial strikes.
In the meeting that was also attended by ministers of finance, industry and energy and supplies, FNCCI president Kush Kumar Joshi also demanded that the government immediately take steps to form Industrial Security Force to ensure reliable security arrangements and install separate feeders at industrial corridors to minimize impact of power shortages.
President Joshi also demanded with the government to arrange diesel at the purchasing price of Nepal Oil Corporation for captive power generator plants and handover the operations of multi-fuel plants at Hetauda and Biratnagar to private sectors and provide concessions to industries being affected by rising lending rates of banks and financial institutions.
The memorandum urged the government adopt a policy of encouraging domestic industries, particularly export-oriented industries to address widening trade deficit and take immediate steps to address labor problems in industries.
