8th NADA Auto Show kicks off

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The 8th NADA Auto Show kicked off at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall from Wednesday.



Inaugurating the show, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun said the government would help promote electric vehicles and create environment conducive for producing automobile parts in Nepal so that they could be exported to other countries. Pun also said the government would create better environment for the automobile industry to grow.[break]



The five-day expo is being organized jointly by Nepal Automobiles Dealers Association (NADA) and Global Exposition and Management with the objective of providing a common platform for those involved in automobile industry and those interested in automobiles.



Speaking at the program, NADA President Saurabh Jyoti highlighted various problems facing the country´s automobile industry like high tax rates, slow pace of road expansion, high fuel price, implementation of Euro-2 standard for vehicles, unscientific process of fixing price of spare parts at customs offices and lack of auto village, among others.



“We have organized the auto show with two social themes ´road safety´ and ´clean and green city´ this year to raise awareness among general public about road safety and traffic discipline,” said Jyoti.



NADA is also organizing seminars on these two themes at the sidelines of the auto show on Thursday.



The expo also features a separate ´Made in Nepal´ pavilion to promote automotive products and services made in the country. Besides the exhibition of cars and bikes of various brands, display of vintage cars, children amusement park, live music and auto quiz, among others are the other attractions of the expo, according to Deepak Thapa, expo coordinator and general secretary of NADA.



The show has a total of 100 stalls of 55 different companies including dealers of different automobile brands, financial institutions, and companies dealing on parts and accessories, among others.



The organizers have fixed entrance fee of Rs 50 for students and Rs 100 for general visitors. Visitors can also win TVS Apace RTR 160 as door prize, which is sponsored by CG Automobiles.



“We are expecting around 50,000 visitors,” said Thapa.
