38 additional DAOs start collecting MRP forms

KATHMANDU, July 17: Home Ministry has made an arrangement to collect Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) application forms from various 38 districts outside Kathmandu Valley effective from Sunday.



The MRP applications forms collected from these District Administration Offices (DAOs) are first collected at regional collection centers of each development region before being brought to the Central Passport Office (CPO) in Kathmandu.[break]



The Home Ministry has designated Morang, Parsa, Kaski, Banke and Kailali as regional collection centers to cover all the development regions. “We have covered 38 districts now. We will add more districts within next two months to cover all districts across the country,” said Home Ministry Spokesperson Sudhir Shah.



Those seeking to acquire MRPs through a fast track service, however, need to come to Kathmandu. One can acquire MRP within a week through fast track service while it would take a month to get it through normal process.



DAOs in Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Terhathum, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Khotang and Okhaldhunga in the eastern development region and Bara, Parsa and Rautahat in central development region have started collecting MRP application forms.



Officials said 10 districts in western development region including Mustang, Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Kaski, Manang, Lamjung, Syangja, Tanahu and Gorkha and seven districts in the mid-western development region including Banke, Bardiya, Dailekh, Surkhet, Humla, Dolpa and Jajarkot have also started collecting MRP forms from Sunday.



As per the new arrangement, MRP seekers from Bajura, Bajhang, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Doti, Achchham, and Dadeldhura in far western development region can now submit their MRP applications at their respective DAOs.



Collection of MRP forms at Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur DAOs is already in full swing.
