2 held for smuggling Indian currency

SIRAHA, Sept 25: A team of Armed Police Force (AFP) on Tuesday arrested two Indian nationals from Madar, Siraha for smuggling Indian currency. Shekhar Kumar Rungta of Jayanagar-9 of Madhubani, India and Ashok Kumar Yadav of Jayanagar-1, India were arrested in possession of Nepali currency worth Rs 2,236,000 and IRs 24,000. Indian currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations are banned in Nepal.



The two were arrested while heading for Siraha on a motorbike (BR 32 D 9527). Police said they were carrying the money around their waist. According to sources, they were illegally running a money exchange business in Jayanagar.
