KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has granted police permission to keep Milan Gurung, also known as Chakre Milan, and 18 others in custody for seven days for investigation on charges of involvement in criminal activities at various locations.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishwa Raj Adhikari of the District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu, the permission was granted following a joint operation conducted Thursday night by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and the DPR in which Chakre Milan and others were arrested.

He said, “These 19 individuals have been found involved in carrying domestic weapons, forming groups in public places, causing disturbances, disrupting public movement, and creating fear among the general public—all of which are considered acts of public disorder. Therefore, they are being investigated under the charge of indecent behaviour, with a seven-day custody extension granted.”
Although the police had detained 47 individuals from the Thamel and Maharajgunj areas during the operation, those found uninvolved were released. Police then sought custody permission for the remaining 19 individuals for investigation under charges of indecent behaviour.
