MUSTANG, Nov 1: Fourteen trekkers have been missing for three days at Suribung pass in the border of Mustang and Manang districts.
The company that arranged their trek reported that the trekkers were en route to Phu village in Manang district via the Damodarkunda area of Yara in Loghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality-4 in Mustang district.
Search for missing trekkers to resume in March
Chief District Officer of Mustang Bishnu Prasad Bhusal confirmed that three Austrians and 11 Nepali trekkers have gone missing since Tuesday following heavy snowfall in the area.
The Saribung pass is located at an altitude of 6,000 metres from the sea level.
However, Bhusal hoped that the trekkers could have been safe in a monastery at Damodarkunda. He mentioned that the monastery has a good stock of essential commodities including lodging and food and the trekkers could be trouble free.
The trekkers had left Kathmandu for Suribung pass about two weeks ago under a package organized by Himalaya Adventure Travel Company.
