KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The bodies of 1,118 people have been recovered so far following the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, according to police.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, 45 bodies had been recovered in Rasuwa, 155 in Nuwakot, 59 in Dhading, 348 in Chitwan, 66 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 217 in Nawalparasi East and 190 in Nawalparasi West.
469 bodies recovered, search and rescue operations continue
Authorities said post-mortem documentation had been completed for 1,117 of the recovered bodies, while 95 bodies had been handed over to their relatives.
As part of efforts to identify the victims, DNA samples have been collected and other necessary procedures completed. A total of 869 bodies have so far been safely buried, including 174 women, 257 men and 438 unidentified bodies.
Details of 911 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded to the Nepal Police website to assist with identification.
Meanwhile, 7,912 police personnel have been mobilized in flood-affected areas for rescue and search operations, relief distribution, body recovery and management, and other related activities.
