According to DC Tiwari, Police Chief of Udham Singh Nagar, the bus carrying Nepalese citizens fell inside a pit while heading toward Tanakpur district from Dehradun.
“The accident happened at 7. High casualties didn´t occur as rescue team reached the spot on short notice,” informed Indian journalist Chauda through telephone conversation.
All the Nepalis in the bus were laborers working in Uttarkasi district of India.
Chauda informed that the injured have been admitted to Ananda Hospital and Research Center at Khatima town at Udham Singh Nagar district.
“We have recovered Indian Rs 400,000 from the scene of accident and it has been kept safe at Nankamata Police Station,” said Chauda.
According to Chauda, local authority has provided Rs 500 for the victims with minor injuries, Rs 5,000 with serious injuries and Rs 10,000 to the family of the deceased.
