KATHMANDU, April 10: The Nationwide Youth Pressure Campaign for Constitution Making organized a special event to mark the second anniversary of the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on Saturday, outside the east gate of the CA hall at New Baneshwar.

The group says they staged the event as political parties have not been able to carry out the mandate that the people have handed over. They say that the constitution drafting and the peace process have not gotten the desired momentum.

The event boasted a few CA members´ speeches and a symbolic or mock voting program. The event saw a gathering of about 100 people, all there to address the needs of the nation and to suggest how best the drafting of the constitution can take place within the given timeframe.

The youth campaign has recently completed a nationwide rally for the same cause and the youth are still pushing for the constitution to be drafted by the May 28 deadline.

Although they realize that the date is nearing and very little has been done by the CA members for the drafting, the group say that their mandate for now is to complete the constitution on the aforementioned date, says Bijaya Babu Shiwakoti, member of the campaign.
