Tikot farmers take to online marketing

Babiyachaur (Myagdi), Jan 4: The locals of Tikot, a village in Myagdi District, have taken to the internet for marketing their produce.

They have been using Facebook to advertise their produce and also finding prospective buyers.

It is said the traders from the market areas have been contacting the farmers on the social media and negotiating the price of the different agricultural produce.The farmers in the area have been marketing potato, cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, goats and rabbits on the Internet.

"Businessmen from Pokhara and Beni contact us after we post the picture and the amount of the produce on Facebook. We send the agriculture produce to the market after publicising the same on Facebook and negotaiating the price on the phone" Dilmaya Armaja, a local farmer, said.

Some 200 households at Histan VDC Ward No 4, 5 and 6 have been growing potato, green vegetables, cabbage and cauliflower. Many farmers also keep goats and rabbit. Agriculture produce worth Rs 20 million grown here is marketed to Pokhara and Beni every year. RSS
