The Ministry of Physical Planning, Work and Transport Management has already started preliminary processes to this regard, said Rameshraj Bista, Chief of the Department of Foreign Aid Coordination at the Ministry.
The Ministry wrote a letter to the Japanese government asking for its assistance for widening the Suryabinayak-Dhilikhel section of the Araniko Highway into a six-lane road after Government of Japan expressed its interest to widen the road. The road is being widened with a view to decreasing the traffic bottleneck in the Kathmandu Valley, said Bista.
Japan has already constructed six-lane nine-kilometer-long road along the Tinkune-Suryabinayak section of the highway.
Bista said Japan has expressed commitment to widen the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road section once the construction of BP Highway was completed.
