Subodh wins golf medal<br/>Indian Rotarians clinch cricket series

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Subodh Thapa won the Surya Nepal Golf Gokarna Monthly Medal Tournament with a score of net 70 on Monday. Joseph Nathan scored 74 to finish second on the count back. Gireesh Bindra was third. Altogether 15 players took part in the event. [break]



This event was the fifth medal of the season and three more medals will be held till the end of December before declaring the Gokarna Club Champion.



Wangchen Dhondup is the leader of the tournament with 192 points and Joseph Nathan climbed to second place with 190 points.





Indian Rotarians clinch series



KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Indian Rotarians defeated Nepali Rotarians by 54 runs to clinch the International Fellowship Cricket series by 2-0 on Monday.



Indian Rotarians, winning the toss, batted first and piled up 161 runs losing all wickets in 29 overs. Vivek Phumra contributed 39 runs for the Indian team in the 30-over match played at the TU grounds in Kirtipur. Nepali Rotarian Kapil Durkha took 4 Indian wickets.



In reply, Nepali team crumbled down piling up just 107 runs in 27 overs. Kapil´s all-round performance continued and he bagged unbeaten 36 runs.



Indian Rotarians had won the T-20 match by 30 runs on Sunday.
