Star calf's disappearance cost TDB the title

SAURAHA, Dec 27: Football star elephant calf of Tourism Development Bank (TDB) Kush Prasad disappeared on Tuesday morning ahead of their crucial final football match against Kist Bank in the calves´ football match organize Elephant Festival at the community forest of Baghmara Buffer Zone, Sauraha.



Kush Prasad´s absence cost TDB dearly as they surrendered 1-4 against Kist in the title decider match. Kush Prasad had completed hat-trick for TDB in their 4-2 victory over Tourism Development Bank on Monday.[break]



On Tuesday morning, mahout had taken Kush Prasad along with him to graze in the forest. But Kush Prasad fled after he was chased by a wild elephant. Kush Prasad, however, returned on Tuesday evening.



“We could have won the match had my elephant not gone missing,” said the disappointed mahout Chaudhary.



“Mahout should be equally clever so as to make the elephant score,” Chaudhary said adding, “An elephant hits the ball after understanding the instructions given by mahout with his leg.”



An elephant team consists of four calves. Karnali Kali had replaced four-year Kush Prasad in his absence. Baraha Gaj, Krishna Prasad and Chitrasen Kali were the other members of TDB squad. Sarswati Kali, Narayan Gaj, Tirthaman Kali and Paras Gaj had teamed up for the winners Kist.



Kist had taken the lead in the very first minute when Saraswati Kali scored soon after the match began. TDB leveled the scoring four minutes later when Baraha Gaj scored from the corner. Saraswati scored her individual second goal in the initial minutes of the second half. Narayan Gaj scored the third and Tirthaman sealed the match five minutes from time when he hit from 15 yard. The final match was conducted for 40 minutes with additional 10 minutes.



Sarswati´s manhout Sogarat Chaudhary said that two goals by his calf had made him feel pleased. “I had trained Saraswati for a month to participate in the event,” Chaudhary said.



In 300 meter elephant´s race, Champa Kali of Hotel Barahai, Pokhara secured top spot finishing the race in 1 minute 13:26 seconds. Beauty Kali of CG Foods and Prithivi Kali of Himalayan Encounter, England finished second and third. In 300 meter boating final, Chitrasen Community Forest, Natural Guide Association and Mrigakunja Customer Association secured top three spots.



Hero Pawe of Green Society took home the title of Tanga Daud for the third consecutive time while Brijan Majhi of Radio Chitwan and Sanjay Shah of Radio Narayani came second and third respectively.



Jamun Mahat of Green Man´s Gada, Dimar Ram Chaudhary of Royal Park Hotel and Laxman Shrestha of Chitwan River Side secured top three spots respectively.



In elephant´s makeup competition, Chanchal Kali, Dhirendra Kali and Basanta Kali finished top three respectively. Basantaraj Gautam, the Chief District Officer of Chitwan handed the prize to the winners amidst a cultural function. Chitwan Regional Hotel Association was the organizer of the event.
