When asked whether they played a fixed match, Bhusal said, though they got match fixing offers from two clubs including Machhindra, they rejected such offers.[break]
"They called us and assured financial support but we did not meet them," said Bhusal who did not wish to disclose the name of the other club. However, Koilapani lost 7-0 to Machhindra. "We are here to play football and have not fixed any match."
ANFA forms probe committee
KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has set up a probe committee to investigate match-fixing rumors. The five-member committee has been formed under the coordination of ANFA´s Vice-president Mahesh Bista, said a press statement released by ANFA on Thursday. ANFA officials Dhirendra Pradhan, Ganesh Chand and Rajaram Dhakal are other members of the committee.
For the fifth member, ANFA has requested a representative from Nepal Police for effective inquiry. If two clubs are found guilty of match fixing they will be punished according to tournament regulations. This among other things might get the club relegated to the second division for the upcoming year. If players are found guilty of match-fixing, the club shall be relegated to B division for a year and players could be banned for one to three years. The club and player can also be punished according to the law of state. Machhindra FC is rumored to have played fixing match with Bansbari FC in its 3-0 victory.
Three Star fined
KATHMANDU: Mega Three Star has been slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 for fans´ misconduct during its match against Nepal Police Club on Wednesday in the Martyrs Memorial A Division League. Three Star fans had broken the seats of the VIP parapet and thrown them towards ground after the team´s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nepal Police Club on Wednesday. They had also thrown water bottles and other things targeting Police players during its victory celebration. ANFA Vice president Lalit Krishna Shrestha is also the Vice president of Three Star. Earlier, Bauddha FC had been fined Rs 15,000 in a similar incident.
Kaski, Rupandehi win
KATHMANDU: Kaski and Rupandehi won their respective matches on Thursday in the ongoing Inter District Development Committee (DDC) Cup U-15 Football Tournament being held in Chitwan. Kaski defeated Rautahat 1-0 as Bishwas Nepali scored the lone goal of the match. In the other match, Rupandehi thrashed Banke 5-0. Bimal Gharti Magar struck twice for the winning side while Roshan Gurung, Nishant Budhathoki and Purna Bahadur Gurung added a goal each.
Budhanilkantha beats Arunima
KATHMANDU: Budhanilkantha Higher Secondary School beat Arunima Higher Secondary School 4-3 in tie-breaker in the preliminary round of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter School National Football Tournament being held in Kathmandu. The regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw in the match played at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Thursday. Raju Lama of Budhanilkantha and Rojan Maharjan of Arunima had scored a goal each in regulation time. Maryland Public School defeated JP High School 3-0 in the second match of the day as Sandeep Chaulagain, Nabin Karki and Suman Tamang scored a goal each.
Likewise, Laboratory Higher Secondary edged past Geetamata Higher Secondary School 2-0 with goals from Rabi Magar and Roman Tamang. In the last match of the day, Cyrus School defeated Mahendra Adarsha Higher Secondary School 2-1. Susan Shrestha and Roshan Tamang scored a goal each for Cyrus while Sagar Rai scored the consolation goal for Mahendra Aadarsha.
Seminar on official karate games held
KATHMANDU: Officials and veterans of official karate games have urged National Sports Council (NSC) not to register karate associations that are not recognized by World Karatedo Federation (WKF). Nepal Karatedo Federation organized a seminar on Thursday to inform about the official karate. Shitoryu, gojuryo, shotokan and wadoryu are the four official karate games recognized by WKF.
“We have to follow the guidelines of WKF while registering karate associations,” said senior coach Mahesh Shrestha. “Directives formulated by NSC on managing martial art games states existance of Nepal Karatedo Federation, International Martial Art Games Committee Nepal and Nepal Full Contact Karate Federation and everybody should follow it,” he added.
He informed the participants about WKF tournaments guide while International Referee Prakash Mohan Dhaumadel informed about referees´ roles. He also asked NKF to take initiatives for the establishment of South Asian Karatedo Federation. President and general secreataries of the official karate associations also highlighted various aspects of the official karate games.
