National Champion Aslesha Lissanevitch defeated Ganga Sharma 6-1, 6-0 in U-18 girls´ category to win the title while her brother Ivanhoe Lissanevitch registered an easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Ashok Kunwar in boys´ U-16 category. Sudarshan Sigdel and Abhay Gauchan finished third in U-16 boys´ category. [break]
In U-12 boys´ singles, Samrakchyan Bhusan Bajracharya defeated Pranav Khanal 6-3, 6-2 to win gold. Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya and Satyap Ilam jointly finished third.
In U-14 girls´ singles final, Bibhuti Karki registered a hard fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Mayanka Rana. Anne Mathema and Bijisha Shrestha finished third.
Abhay Gauchan defeated Aavash Malla in three sets 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 to lift the title of U-14 boys´ singles. Sakchyam Karki and Pranav Kayastha finished third.
The final match of U-18 boys´ singles between Ivanhoe Lissanevitch and Milan Rokka will be played on Saturday, the last day of the tournament. The final of U-16 girls´ singles between Aslesha Lissanevitch and Bibhuti Karki will also be played on the same day.
Shrestha finishes on 37th position
KATHMANDU: Nepal No 1 Shiva Ram Shrestha played a forgettable round of golf on Friday on the last day of the Players Championship under the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and finished the tournament in the 37th position.
Shrestha started the final round from the 25th position but slumped down to 37th after submitting a card of six-over 78 on Friday at the Golden Greens Golf Club. He finished the tournament with a total score of eight-over 296 and received a check of IRs 16,000.
Shrestha suffered bogeys on the sixth, eighth, 13th and 18th holes as well as a double-bogey on the 14th holes on Friday. He could not card birdies on the last round.
Shrestha has been playing in PGTI after finishing the PGTI Qualifying School as the second best foreign player last December.
Kunal Bhasin won the title of the championship as he scored 11-under 277 in total. Abhinav Lohan (eight-under 280) finished the tournament as runner-up while Gaurav Pratap Singh and Manav Jaini (seven-under 281) shared the third position.
Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati win titles
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley and Bagmati School on Friday lifted the title of First BST Cup Inter School Basketball Tournament in boys´ and girls´ category respectively. Kathmandu Valley edged past Valley Public 29-27 with 12 points from Kul Bahadur Gurung. Innovative finished in the third position. In girls´ section, Shanti Shrestha´s 15 points guided Bagmati for a 30-20 win over Angel´s Heart.
Valley Public finished third. Aang Tshring Sherpa of Kathmandu Valley and Shanti Shrestha of Bagmati were adjudged the Most-Valuable-Players in boys´ and girls´ section respectively.
