KATHMANDU, April 28: Rescued Taiwanese trekker has celebrated his birthday at Grande Hospital in the capital on Friday.

According to trekking officials, a 21-year-old Taiwanese man called Liang Sheng Yueh, had gone missing on a mountain in Nepal 47 days ago.

He was rescued along with his 19-year-old girlfriend Liu Chen Chun on Wednesday in a chopper but his girlfriend passed away three days before  they were discovered.

According to the trekking agencies the couple were caught in a snowstorm and lost their way while they were trekking Ganesh Himal trail in March.

They slipped over a waterfall at an altitude of 2,600 meters and got stuck there. They survived on salt and water after their food ran out after two weeks.
