PM's directive to lessen load shedding

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government would not leave any stone unturned to implement its decision of lessening the load shedding.

Speaking in today's meeting of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today, PM Oli added that the accustomed practice of employees of the concerned bodies to show only the laws, regulations instead of working effectively should be ended.He stressed on giving the output instead of creating unnecessary hindrances. PM Oli added that the government was prioritizing to lessen the power-cut hours and diversifying the solar and air energies so that people could see change within a year.

Prime Minister Oli informed that the government was forwarding the process for having the feasibility study for wind energy sectors' development carried out by the Investment Board.

Similarly, PM Oli further said the government was bringing policy to set up solar energy in each home in the capital, and electric vehicles would be operated in the Kathmandu valley, adding that the problems seen in developing power transmission lines would be removed soon.

PM Oli also informed that an action plan would be brought in place in the near future to install solar panels in the premises of Singha Durbar.

Saying that the government was working on diversifying energy sources, he said that it was also planning to install solar panels in public places, schools and the offices of security forces including the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.

He said that the tendency to stall projects under various pretext would hamper development in energy sector, adding that the government was working on the development and expansion of hydropower projects and that all concerned sector should be committed to the matter.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Top Bahadur Raymajhi, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission Dr Yubraj Khatiwada, high-officials of the Forest and Soil Conservation Ministry and the Ministry of Environment and Science expressed commitment to remove all types of obstacles to achieve the government's target.

Similarly, the Committee also directed the Energy Ministry to submit action plan to resolve the overall problems surfaced in the energy sector within a month, said Committee President Gagan Thapa. RSS
