Pawan, Gyanendra in tennis final

KATHMANDU, March 2: Pawan Agrawal and Gyanendra Tamrakar entered the men´s 55 plus veterans category final in the ongoing 10th Nepal Investment Bank Open Tennis Tournament on Tuesday.



Pawan defeated Laxmi Gurung 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinal match played at the Satdobato Tennis Court while Gyanendra got walk-over from his rival Captain MK in the another semifinal. [break]



Likewise, former minister Kamal Thapa entered the final of men´s 35 plus veterans category of the tournament organized by the All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association. Kamal defeated Harbendra Singh Chaddha 7-5, 6-2. He will now face Rajesh Chhetri, who received walk-over from Sovitman Shrestha in the semifinal.



In the women´s 35 plus veterans category, Jyoti Rana defeated Ambika Karki 6-2, 6-1 while Ayusha Sigurdson beat Sarju Tulachan 6-1, 6-2 to enter the final.



In the doubles event of men´s 35 plus veterans section, Rajesh Chhetri and Uttam Lama paired up to defeat Harbendra Singh Chaddha and Rameshwar Thpa 4-6, 6-1, 11-9 to enter the quarterfinals.



Likewise, the duo of Chandra Shahi and Sovitman Shrestha thrashed Dinesh Tuladhar and Prithvi Thakali 6-2, 6-3 while Raju Rai and Raju Shrestha teamed up to beat Manoj Bikram Shah and Manohar Das Mul 6-2, 6-3.
