KATHMANDU, Feb 24: The top two teams in the group stage of the four-nation International Women's Championship shared the spoils on Sunday as the final match of the group stage ended in a 2-2 draw between Nepal and Myanmar.
Despite scoring four goals in the first half of the match at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor, both teams failed to score in the second half.
Myanmar's Myat Noe Khin scored a free kick in the sixth minute of the match to give the visitor team the lead.
Nepal equalized in the 11th minute. Sabita Rana Magar converted a pass from Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ from the left wing to put Nepal back in the game.
Myanmar took the lead again in the 16th minute. May Lule Chesley scored after beating two Nepali defenders to give the team a 2-1 lead.
Nepal equalized again in the 40th minute of the first half. Samba exhibited brilliant individual skill to bring Nepal to a 2-2 level position.
Both teams tried to score more goals in the second half but failed. This match was a strategic preparation before the final, as both Nepal and Myanmar had already secured their places in the final.
Now the final will be contested between Nepal and Myanmar on February 26.
