KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shashank Koirala has urged party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to immediately dissolve the party’s Central Working Committee and appoint an Acting President to facilitate the upcoming general convention.

Speaking to journalists at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Saturday, Dr Koirala said Deuba should delegate the party’s leadership responsibilities and focus on creating an environment conducive to holding the regular general convention scheduled for November–December.

“The party must hold its regular general convention, not a special one,” Koirala said. “I told Sher Bahadurji—this is my personal opinion—that he should dissolve the committee, appoint an acting president and allow that person to form new committees and set the date for the convention.”

Koirala expressed confidence that the date for the regular general convention would be fixed by mid-December
