Municipality to clear huts and homes

BHAKTAPUR, July 19: The Bhaktapur municipality is set to remove the homes and huts constructed by encroaching road, rivulet and public land.



The municipality will be compelled to clear the homes and huts built against the stipulated criteria within 15 days if the concerned house-owners remained silent in this regard, said Executive Officer of the municipality Gopal Regmi. [break]



According to the criteria, the concerned land-owner should construct resident some 20 metres away from Hanumante, Khasang Khusung including other rivulets.



Likewise, he further informed that a notice was issued on Monday to remove the house, huts, hoarding boards and compound wall constructed by unlawfully occupying Nagarkot road, Pasikhel road and Araniko highway within 15 days.



If the concerned locals do not remove such structures within 15 days, the infrastructure will be dismantled and cleared by penalizing Rs. 100,000 each as per the Local Self Governance Act 2055, he made it clear.



Costs involved in removing the structures will be charged to the concerned persons. The municipality has also issued a notice to remove the construction materials and things kept for sale causing obstruction to the highway of within 15 days, he added.



Penalty Rs. 15,000 will be imposed if such materials are not removed from the road by ignoring the notice of municipality, Regmi said.
