"I am a very unfortunate father. Even as I saw the flood engulf my son, I could not jump to his rescue. I could not even locate my son after the disaster. However, the administration is not ready to list my son among the dea”," said Komal.[break]
Komal would have been entitled to Rs 125,000 if the administration lists his son among the dead“ "It is impossible to recover his body after three month”," he added.
On that fateful day, Komal had left his son to look after their shop in Sardikhola market. When he returned, the entire market was being swept away by the flood“ "I had just crossed the bridge when everything vanished just before my eye”," he said.
Komal´s family has already performed the last rites of Sriram.
Komal´s family is just one among the 32 families who have not received compensation for their missing relatives beleived dead . The local administration has so far provided compensation to 27 families only.
Chief District Officer Chetnath Adhikari said those missing in the flood cannot be declared dead“ "It is not allowed by the existing laws of the countr”," he said“ "However, we have been making efforts to provide equal compensation to the families of the missing. We are waiting for the reply from the home ministry“ "he added.
