The probe panel headed by former Supreme Court justice Rajendra Kumar Bhandari submitted its report to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar on Thursday with its finding claiming that an international criminal gang had masterminded the murder. [break]
Talking to media persons after submitting the report, Bhandari said people who were not happy with his social work, including construction of schools and mosques could be behind the murder. He also claimed that the murder was carried out by a criminal group like the one that was behind the murder of politician Mirza Dilsad Beg and media entrepreneur Jamim Shah.
The commission, however, has not made any name public citing “gravity of the issue”.
The commission has suggested to the government to adopt Instrumental Intelligence led Investigation for complicated cases like this as in the cases like this it takes a longer time to trace criminal.
Receiving the report, Minister Gachchhadar expressed his commitment to bring the guilty to justice.
An unidentified group had shot dead Ahmad near Ghantaghar in Kathmandu on September 26 a few meters away from Metropolitan Police Commissioner´s Office in Ranipokhari.
The government then had formed a three-member probe commission headed by Bhandari amid protests from various Muslim organizations. Two other members of the probe commission included deputy attorney general Prem Raj Karki and Additional Inspector General of Police Naresh Gurung.
