KATHMANDU, March 18: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa assumed office on Tuesday afternoon. He clarified that maintaining the country's peace and security would be his top priority following his appointment.
Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi adorned him with the insignia of his rank today, following his promotion to the position as per the Cabinet's decision on Monday. He also congratulated IGP Thapa for attaining the prestigious position of leading such a distinguished organization and wished him success in his tenure.
Armed Police Force Inspector General Raju Aryal, Chief Investigation Director of the National Investigation Department Hut Raj Thapa, Additional Inspector General of Police, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, and journalists attended the event.
IGP Thapa stated that his goal is to enhance the Nepal Police while maintaining peace, security, and order in the country. He expressed confidence that everyone in the organization would contribute to achieving this goal after assuming office.
Before assuming office, he offered a floral wreath at the Amar Jawan Memorial in the Nepal Police headquarters premises to pay tribute to the immortal police personnel. He also planted a sapling in the office premises.
