Govt rescuing Nepalis stranded in Libya

KATHMANDU, Feb. 24: The government has started rescuing Nepali nationals stranded in strife-torn Libya.



A total of 562 Nepali nationals were taken to the border of Egypt from Darna, which is on the boil due to people´s movement against the autocratic regime Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.[break]



According to Assistant Spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Harish Chandra Ghimire, the government has requested the Egyptian government to p provide food, lodging and security to Nepali people.



Nepali Ambassador in Cairo Tirtharaj Aryal is coordinating rescue effort to bail the stranded Nepalis out, said Ghimire.



According ministry´s record, 3,064 Nepali working in Libya.
