Dr Nicholas Bhusal released on bail of Rs 50,000

POKHARA, Jan 17: Dr Nicholas Bhusal, who was arrested for publicly sharing a photo of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane while in custody in connection to the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara, has been released on a bail of Rs 50,000.

Authorities had arrested him on December 22 for violating the Electronic Transactions Act (cybercrime) and brought him to court the next day in Pokhara for a detention hearing in the Kaski District Court. Judge Nabaraj Dahal's bench ordered the investigation to continue while keeping him in custody. After the police investigation, the DGAO Kaski registered a case on Friday and presented Dr Bhusal in the court.

The District Government Attorney Office (DGAO) Kaski filed the case seeking a fine of Rs 100,000 and a five-year imprisonment for Bhusal. However, Judge Shankar Bahadur Rai's bench ordered Dr Bhusal's release on a bail of Rs 50,000.
