KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday plunged 13.35 points to close at 2,635.94 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,649.29 points, initially dipped to as low as 2,637.22 points in the first 17 minutes, before reaching the day’s high at 2,654.62 points in the next 53 minutes. However, the market went downhill successively and hit the day’s low at 2,631.58 points in the last 19 minutes. The index recovered around four points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.

Two groups including finance and trading gained 5.06 points and 0.24 points, respectively. Of the 11 losers, manufacturing and processing, and hotels and tourism, declined 103.25 points and 101.09 points, respectively.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 2.22 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 5.17 billion from two month high record of Rs 7.12 billion on Tuesday.
Among the individual companies, 62 were gainers while 187 were recorded as losers. SY Panel Nepal had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 269.49 million. The company was recorded also as the highest loser by shedding 8.45 percent of its market price. Narayani Development Bank Limited gained the highest of 6.08 percent.
