KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday increased marginally by 3.35 points to close at 2,758.75 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,755.40 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,784.95 points in the first half an hour. The index then dropped and hovered around 2,773 points for the next two hours before it plunged to the day’s low at 2,747.13 points when trading time was left for 16 minutes. The market recovered around 11 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Six out of 13 groups were the losers with the development index plunging by the largest of 101.73 points. Of the seven gainers, life insurance surged by the highest of 230.04 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also rose by 0.60 points. Daily turnover fell to Rs 11.08 billion from Rs 11.54 billion on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 92 were gainers while 143 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited enjoyed the highest turnover of its shares worth Rs 893.53 million.
Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited, by adding 10 percent in its market value, was recorded as the topmost gainer. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
