At a press meet in the capital Monday, party general secretary Bhumi Raj Niraula informed Mainali was expelled from the party´s general membership for his involvement in horse-trading in the prime ministerial election, misusing party’s funds, and carrying out different activities against the party policies and principles.[break]
Niraula claimed that Mainali was ousted from the party after the latter took the party towards division by disseminating false news saying that party general secretary was kicked out from the party’s central committee meeting held at Mahuli of Saptari district.
It was informed that the emergency meeting of the party held on Aug. 15 ousted Mainali after he failed to submit his clarification sought by the party.
Party senior vice chairman Shiva Prasad Tamang said Mainali was ousted by a two-thirds majority of the party´s central committee. The party has 54 members in its central committee.
He said a new lawmaker will represent the party in place of Mainali as he will have no legal and moral grounds to remain as the lawmaker from the party after his ouster from the party’s general membership.
