Chand-led NCP cadre arrested on extortion charge

ROLPA, Jan 7: Police have arrested a cadre of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand on the charge of extortion on Monday.

According to police, 42-year-old Bhupendra Khadka alias Gore of Lungri rural municipality-2 was arrested for his alleged involvement in extortion. “Khadga has taken Rs 50,000 from Devendra Rijal, a teacher of Hikmateshwar Primary School,” said Dipak Khadka, chief of District Police Office, Rolpa.

He is an area secretary of the Chand-led NCP.

Police said they are investing the case after taking him on a five-day remand from the district court.
