CC discusses report on SRC

KATHMANDU, March 25: The Constitutional Committee (CC) held a meeting Friday and discussed the disputed issues over the report of State Restructuring Committee.



In the meeting, Nepali Congress stressed for the formation of a state restructuring commission and collecting suggestions from experts, whereas Unified CPN (Maoist) and some other parties maintained that consensus should be forged on the draft citing lack of time for constitution drafting. Chairman of CC Nilambar Acharya said since the issue is a serious one it might take time and the issue of state restructuring will be forwarded to the Sub-Committee led by Maoist Chairman Prachanda if consensus couldn´t be forged.



Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel said more time is needed for consensus. Among other issues related to constitution drafting, 30 are still contentious and waiting for political consensus.
