The qualifiers scheduled to be held from July 9-26 are being jointly organized by Ireland and Scotland. Meanwhile, Nepal will play two List A matches of the ICC World Cricket League Championship against Scotland on July 29 and 31.
According to a press release issued by CAN, the 22-member squad comprises Paras Khadka (C), Sharad Vesawkar, Basant Regmi, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Subash Khakurel, Gyanendra Malla, Shakti Prasad Gauchan, Sagar Pun, Binod Bhandari, Bhuban Karki, Pradeep Airee, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya, Prithu Baskota, Anil Mandal, Siddhant Lohani, Mahaboob Alam, Rajesh Pulami Magar, Avinash Karn, Mahesh Kumar Chhetri, Hari Shankar Sah and Saurabh Khanal.
Meanwhile, the working committee of CAN on Monday decided to send the team to India for the closed camp training on the first week of June. The cricket governing body has also decided to send the national team to England and the Netherlands for practice matches before the qualifiers. CAN has also decided to hire a foreign batting coach and a physiotherapist.
Similarly, CAN has also decided to send coaches Nabin Kumar Singh and Mahesh Rijal for ACC Level 3 Coaching Course of the Asian Cricket Council to be held in Bangladesh.
Nepal Earthquake Fundraising Match in Malaysia
CAN and Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) on Monday unveiled the logo for the Nepal Earthquake Fundraising Match to be held between Nepali national team and World XI in Malaysia later this year.
Issuing a joint press release on Monday, CAN and MCA said that the match will be organized in Malaysia to raise funds for the recovery and rebuilding efforts following the earthquakes that devastated a large part of the country.
"Much of our country has been hit by this earthquake and the following aftershocks, the scars are all around us. Now we need to look into the future and the long process of rebuilding. Malaysia's offer to organize this match on an annual basis is a kind gesture which shows that the relationship between the two nations goes beyond cricket," stated CAN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bhawana Ghimire in the press release.
While, MCA President MahindaVallipuram said, "We are happy to welcome the Nepal National Team and the World XI to Kinrara Oval, 'The Home of Malaysian Cricket'. As the host nation we are honored that Nepal has accepted our invitation to host this match on an annual basis."
He added that "The Nepal Earthquake Fundraising Match is an excellent opportunity for the public, the corporate sector and members of the broader cricket community to participate in the humanitarian effort that will be needed to rebuild Nepal. Cricket diplomacy will be at its best and we hope to show the world that we can all work in coming together for the greater good."
