The criminal law reform taskforce formed in Sept 2008 has readied the Bill.[break]
The previous government had in principle endorsed the Bill and preparation is underway to table it in the Legislature-Parliament, said Secretary of Ministry of Law Madhav Poudel.
Since Nepal´s criminal justice administration has become 150-year old the Bill has been prepared to end impunity and make the society human rights and gender friendly, he said.
The ministry has been seeking suggestions from the stakeholders before taking the Bill to the Parliament.
The Bill has included 27 main crimes and provision of punishments.
Ministry´s Under Secretary and task force member Indira Dahal said the proposed Bill has seriously raised the issue of gender and has made an arrangement of conducting closed hearing while handling the cases of women and the crime they commit.
