MORANG, July 31: Flights in and out of eastern hilly district have been affected over the last six days owing to bad weather triggered by incessant rains.

According to the Biratnagar office of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, flights to Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha and Taplejung by Nepal Airlines Corporation have been repeatedly cancelled. [break]

Incessant rains and fog enveloping the airports have made landings impossible, the office said.

Not a single plane has landed in the airports at Taksar of Bhojpur; Lamidanda, Khandanda and Thamkharka of Khotang; Kagel, Phaplu, Lukla, Syangboche of Solukhumbu; Suketar of Taplejung; and Tumlingtar of Sankhuwasabha for the past five days.

Flight cancellations have badly affected patients referred to Kathmandu and Biratnagar for treatment. NAC has been operating flights in these districts.
