DHARAN, June 21: Twenty-eight leaders and cadres of the Kirant Janawadi Workers´ Party (KJWP), including the party´s treasurer, have quit the party to join the UCPN (Maoist).

Releasing a press statement on Monday, treasurer Amar Lingden announced the decision, saying that people´s liberation is no more possible through armed struggle. The statement said they quit the party as it could not rise above intra-party bickerings. They also accused the party of politicization of crimes in the name of ethnic struggle.

In a press statement, Maoists´ Ilam joint-secretary Chanda confirmed the Kirant cadres´ joining of the Maoist party.
