KATHMANDU, Sept 23: A task force formed to reform curriculum for technical and vocational education and training has submitted its report to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The government had formed the five-member team, led by curriculum expert Dr Lekhnath Paudel, on August 6. The task force was mandated to evaluate the current curriculum and identify areas for improvement.

The task force reviewed the curriculum and suggested ways to align it with industry demands and labor market trends. Their recommendations include restructuring diploma and pre-diploma programs, involving the professional sector in curriculum development, and improving the evaluation system for students.

The report also suggests that vocational education should replace the technical stream in classes 9 and 10, with subjects like career counseling as options. After class 10, technical education would be introduced. The task force proposed creating a comprehensive guide for curriculum development to better prepare students for employment.

The ministry plans to implement the recommendations to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of technical and vocational education in Nepal.
