Russian envoy to Nepal passes away

Ambassador of the Rusian Fereration to Nepal Andrey Sergeevich Budnik

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Ambassador of the Rusian Federation to Nepal Andrey Sergeevich Budnik has passed away in Moscow on August 10, Friday.

Budnik was in Moscow for holidays since July 7. He was 65. 

Budnik was appointed Russian envoy to Nepal from February 2016. He has previously served as the Russian envoy to Pakistan from 2009 - 2013. Similarly, from 1995-1999 Budnik worked as Consul General of the Russian Federation to India.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has passed the condolence on the demise of Budnik in Twitter. In the message, it has extended its condolence to Russian Federation and family of late envoy Budnik.

Spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Bharat Raj Paudel said, "Russian government has confirmed the news of the demise of Budnik to Nepal government". 

Russian Embassy in Baluwatar will hold a special program on Tuesday and Wednesday in remembrance of the deceased envoy.
