KATHMANDU, July 25: The Rajesh Memorial Cancer Relief Foundation has been established in Nepal.

It has been established as a charitable organization, and its primary objective is to provide necessary support and services to the cancer patients, according to a press release issued by the Foundation recently.

In addition to study, the organization will conduct teaching and research in the field of health and medical sciences related to cancer, read the press release.

"This Foundation is driven by the urgency to do something in the area of public health. The Foundation will collaborate with various organizations or institutions, especially cancer related ones and hospitals and health facilities dedicated to providing medical care to the patients and conducting awareness-raising programs against the disease," the organization said in the press release.

The Foundation will also make its efforts to provide proper counseling and guidance to cancer patients, their families and caregivers.

"The Foundation will reach out to the persons or groups who are prone to cancer due to poverty, lack of easy access to health facility, necessary support and services and proper understanding or knowledge about the disease," stated the press release.

The Foundation will not only inform the patients and their caregivers about how they can have access to hospitals and health institutions for cancer treatment but also make arrangements for transport service as per necessity, according to the organization.

The Foundation will provide financial assistance to patients, who are financially indigent and underprivileged, on priority basis.

The Foundation has been named after senior orthopedic surgeon and specialist Dr. Rajesh Acharya who devoted his whole life to social service.
