PM Oli urges precaution amidst natural disasters

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on everyone to take precautionary measures against the natural disasters occurring due to the persistent rainfall.

PM Oli, who is currently in the USA to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, emphasized collective efforts to deal with disasters for, he stated, that natural disasters were a common challenge for all.

Taking to Facebook today, Oli expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and properties due to incessant rainfall.

Highlighting the reports of damage caused by floods and landslides in various parts of the country, the PM said that he had telephoned Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and acquired information about the impacts of the continuous rainfall.

According to PM Oli, Minister Lekhak apprised him of the rescue efforts being made by the teams of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force who are also providing relief  for the affected people.

The PM expressed concern over the delay in rescue operation in some places, and urged the chief district officers in the respective disaster-hit districts to take forward rescue operations responsibly.

Warning about the meteorologists’ prediction of rainfall occurring today as well, PM Oli called for cooperation from the citizens to cooperate with security personnel deployed for rescue operation. He also appealed to people to remain vigilant in the areas prone to natural disasters.
