Guinero arrived in Balgung after inspecting projects running under World Bank aid in Dolpa.
“I found the project operated by local community well managed,” Guinero said, adding, “Harnessing electricity from rivers in rural areas through micro-hydro projects will help in Nepal´s development.”
The team came to oversee the 75 KW capacity Giringdikhola micro-hydro project as it was established as a model micro-hydro project, said Kamal Poudel of the project.
People in rural areas, who do not have access to central grid, have used the electricity from the micro-hydro project in multi-dimensional way.
The project has been providing electricity to 800 households since it started its production last year. The project was completed at the investment of Rs 20 million. The electricity generated from this micro-hydro project has also used to establish a rural communication center.
After his inspection visit, Minister Pandey said the government was serious about introducing a model computer education in all districts. He also said it is necessary for communication and technology to reach rural areas.
