KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The Supreme Court on Sunday said it would give its verdict on the murder and passport forgery cases involving French national Charles Sobhraj on January 13.

Justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhee and Kalyan Shrestha fixed the date of the verdict following hearings spanning months in apex court, according to the Supreme Court Spokesperson Til Prasad Shrestha.

Arrested in September 2003, Sobhraj is in the jail after the Kathmandu District Court convicted him for murdering Laurent Armand Carriere of Canada and Connie Jo Bronizch of the United States back in 1975.

The apex court would either reject or uphold the decision of the district court that gave Sobhraj life term in August 2004. Sobhraj has challenged the verdict of the district court in the apex court.
