Established in 1887, LCCI IQ has been providing trainings in human resources, particularly in the business sector, of the United Kingdom.[break]
Every year, more than 500,000 students take LCCI International Qualifications tests globally which are offered through a network of over 5,000 centers in over 120 countries. These centers include schools, colleges, universities, education and language centers.
LCCI IQ has been offered globally for over 100 years, and has a reputation for being relevant in the international business market. Companies use LCCI qualifications standards to satisfy their training and development needs, and also as a work-related qualification yardstick.
Mark Disney, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of LCCI Asia and representative of the LCCI programs in 24 countries within Asia, was recently in Kathmandu to promote and emphasize LCCI approaches in South Asia, and also to sign an agreement with the market representative of LCCI Nepal, Roshan Rathi.
Talking to Republica, Disney said that “Since there has been a big boom in the education sector over the past few years in Nepal, we need to lead the skilled people for employment.”
The idea, according to him, is to send internationally recognized skilled workers abroad and also enhance the domestic market. LCCI offers a white-collar
vocational qualification, as the training is a combination of academic and practical skills development.
He further said that there are many Nepali workers in Malaysia, and since LCCI has a global reach, and if they have such degrees at hand, they can get themselves high-paying jobs abroad.

Disney further said that a country’s long-term economic prosperity depends on human resources and the development of economic qualifications, along with the apt skills, will enable a country to develop economically in the long run.
LCCI, he claimed, has the history of providing guaranteed jobs which has proved to be true in countries like Malaysia. The purpose of LCCI, he said, is to replicate the same success in Nepal.
“The main motive of LCCI starts from the perspective of the employers, and what they want,” said Disney. The syllabus, he explained, is built on the basis of research, and so it reflects on what the employers need. This technique enables a constant process of evaluation along with the feedback from the employers, and so the main concept is disseminated among various employing groups. So LCCI, he furthered, “is the first step on the ladder for higher education and employment.”
Disney further expressed that since Nepal has strong natural and human resources, it needs skilled human capital to empower it.
Roshan Rathi, in his additional capacity of Senior Manager Operations of LCCI Nepal which is the Exclusive Market Representative for Nepal as well, said, “Since we’re providing LCCI certificates through colleges and training centers, students can have both the domestic certificate of the college as well as the international certificate.” This, he said, will be advantageous to the students since with this certificate, they can take a direct entry in international colleges. He further put in that, since taking such tests are costlier abroad, it is better if students take it here itself.”
Rathi also said that, because many students are opting to go abroad for higher studies and jobs, they can even venture in to the non-English-speaking countries with the LCCI certificate of teaching English as a foreign language. He further said that the main idea behind LCCI is not to send people abroad but make people eligible to enter the domestic market, as the corporate sector itself is in dire need of skilled manpower.
In Nepal, LCCI is offered through various affiliated colleges and training centers. Currently, there are ten colleges and training centers which are providing LCCI courses. These colleges include Golden Gate College, Times Management College, Advanced Engineering College, Asian College of Management, Kantipur Valley College, Gateway College for Professional Studies, Lead International, Indreni Tourism and Hotel Training Centre, and also Tilotama Campus in Butwal.
LCCI IQ provides international-standard education and training that are trusted and valued by employers, universities and professional bodies globally. It has a proven track record of being “Passport to Global Employment.” LCCI IQ also has the accreditation of direct entry to professional qualifications from The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and many more allied bodies.
