Organizing a press conference on Monday, Kiran Rai, the coordinator of the main organizing committee, said that 11 teams including three A division clubs have confirmed their participation in the event.
Nabil Three Star Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club are the top flight clubs to participate in the tournament. The other teams in the contest are Workers Martyrs Memorial Club, Sahara Club of Pokhara, Jhapa XI, Sunsari XI, Morang XI, ANFA Academy, Darjeeling and Udayapur XI of the host.
According to chief of Udayapur District Sports Development Committee Prakash Khadka, eight different sub-committees have been formed to conduct the tournament smoothly.
The winner and the runner-up will receive Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,00 respectively along with cup, medals and certificates. Similarly, the best player and highest scorer will get Rs 5,000 each. The district sports development committee and Triyuga Municipality have already contributed Rs 400,000 for the tournament. The expected expense of the tournament is Rs 1.5 million. The organizers expect to raise the remaining amount from corporate houses and donors.
According to the tournament organizers, sports activities in the district have been hit hard by lack of sports grounds.
"As there is no other playground, we are forced to conduct the tournament in between the Dashain and Tihar festivals when the school is closed," said Khadka.
